NASA manages recovery of the return capsule of the OSIRIS-REx mission

24-09-2023

After collecting samples from the Bennu asteroid in 2020, OSIRIS-Rex probe (launched 2016) released its return capsule, which safely landed on 24/9/2023 in the Utah desert.

The landing point was just 8 km East respect to the originally planned site, but much closer to a position  recently updated based on the reentry conditions (e.g. atmospheric density).

EARS team felicitate NASA for their accomplishment and feels strongly linked with their success, since among their goals is the de-orbiting and retrieve LEO satellites for their later reuse to achieve a more sustainable and efficient access to space.
